Cathey, Jimmie Joe "Jim" (71)
Jimmie Joe “Jim” Cathey, 71, husband of Mary Ann Elliott Cathey, of Lexington, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013.
He was a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Kentucky. Born in Whitney, TX, he was a son of the late James Hiram and Iro Boiles Cathey. He was a graduate of Texas A&M and was a member of Gardenside Baptist Church. His heart’s passion was in serving with Engineering Ministries International in third world countries.
Besides his wife, Jim is survived by a son, Phillip (Dena) Cathey, Tampa, FL; a daughter, Julie (John) Sunnucks, Allen, TX; a brother, J.H. (Jerry) Cathey, Jr., La Vernia, TX and three grandchildren, Sara Cathey, Sam and Luke Sunnucks.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Monday at Gardenside Baptist Church where visitation will be from 10 until service time. Interment will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
