Clay, Allan

Clay, Allan, 93, widower of Elizabeth Alexander Clay, died Sun, Jan 31, 2010. Born in Nicholas County, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude Craycraft Clay.

A graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, he spent 40 years as a funeral director and embalmer with Porter Funeral Home in Maysville, KY. After moving to Lexington, he spent time with Aaron Smith Funeral Home before finishing his career with10 years of service with Milward Funeral Directors.

He is survived by his children, John W. (D’Ann) Clay, Lexington and Elizabeth C. (Irling) Itzen, Excelsior, MN; grandchildren, Nathan (Sara VanAsten) Itzen, Golden Valley, MN and Sarah (Nicholas) Dagostino, Duluth, MN.

A memorial service will be 11 AM Thurs at May’s Lick Cemetery, May’s Lick, KY, conducted by Dr. Mark Johnson. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wed at Milward-Broadway. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Central Baptist Church, Lexington.
